A Family Fun Day will be held on Friday 12th August at The Mid-Suffolk Light Railway, based at Brockford Station in Wetheringsett, near Stowmarket.
There will be steam train rides and the railway’s normal fares will apply. The attractions on offer are designed for all ages, with activity packs to help families look at the museum in a different way, the chance to dress up as various railway characters, art activities, tours and demonstrations.
The railway’s refreshment room and barbeque will also be open for drinks and light refreshments.
The Fun Days compliments the railway’s new education programme, developed as part of the charity’s bid for funding to restore an Edwardian steam locomotive, currently displayed in the railway’s workshop.
The fun day is one of several new events being staged by the MSLR this year, another being an open air production of The Ghost Train, performed on August 11th, 12th and 13th in the station’s waiting room and featuring a live steam train (more information is available at www.mslr.org.uk)
No booking is required the Family Fun Day, which runs from 11am – 4pm on Friday 12th August.
The Mid-Suffolk Light Railway is Suffolk’s only standard gauge heritage steam railway and has been running trains since 2002. It is staffed by volunteers who live both locally and from as far afield as Sherringham in Norfolk and Colchester in Essex.
