Meet Tutankhamen

Tutankhamen is one of the most well-known and celebrated Pharaohs of Ancient Egypt and with this exciting activity you will have the chance to meet him! You will be sent on a journey back in time as the former King tells you some truly fascinating stories about this once great civilisation.

Be intrigued and surprised by the fascinating stories about what the life of a Pharaoh would be like during the time of the Egyptians. Discover more about Ancient Egypt through the stories you hear and learn more about the people that were alive during this time, the pyramids that still stand today, what they meant to the Egyptians and much more.

Tutankhamen will share stories with you about the afterlife and what Egyptians believed would happen after someone had died and the rituals that they would take part in. Maybe you’ll even discover something about the different types of Egyptian gods that they worshipped.

This is a truly fascinating event so come along to Ipswich Museum and join us on this storytelling adventure. There is no need to book, just drop in to one of our storytelling sessions that are at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm (British Sign Language interpreted sessions are also at 11.30am and 1pm). This cost for this event is only £1.50 per person, so be sure to come along and get involved!

If you like the sound of travelling back through time and learning more about people of the past you should join in with the fantastic ‘Grand Tour’. This takes place throughout the museum, which is guaranteed to be fun – filled and amazing for all the family. You’ll have to keep your eyes peeled for the discoveries that are all around you on your adventure, as there is much to be seen!

You could travel through Ancient Egypt and find a hidden tomb from the past, or perhaps you’ll find some giant bones that once belonged to an animal that is long since extinct. Maybe you’ll even be chased by a rhino as you explore through Africa. Whatever happens on your journey, there is sure to be stories and objects that you’ll bring back with you to show off and share with others.

Come along to one of our sessions, which are held at 10.30am, 1pm and 3pm and each last for 1 ½ hours. Morning sessions are open for little explorers, aged from 4 – 7 years, and our afternoon sessions are for those aged from 7-11.

This event is very popular, so be sure to book your place beforehand by either calling on 01473 433691, or by dropping into Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich. Prices are as little as £3 per child,
