Felixstowe: New Secretary for Chamber

Felixstowe Chamber of Commerce and Trade have announced the appointment of a new Secretary.

Sarah Gooch of Abbeygate Lighting, Cobbold Road, Felixstowe will shortly be taking the role as the new secretary for the Felixstowe Chamber.

In 2005, Sarah joined the family business after having spent many years in the background looking after the accounts. During the last 6 years, she has made a significant impact to Abbeygate Lighting with the latest venture being the implementation of an E-Commerce website, which is her most noteworthy achievement so far. Sarah’s main aim whilst being on the committee of the chamber is to promote Felixstowe.

Louise Berrill is stepping down after over 8 years in the role to enable her to pursue other work, family and voluntary commitments. Louise says; ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as secretary for the chamber. Although not always easy I have been delighted to contribute to so many brilliant projects and see the chamber develop and strengthen. I have met some wonderful people within the committee and town. As neither a resident nor a business person within Felixstowe I feel it is now the right time to allow Sarah to take the chamber to the next level with her fresh and enthusiastic approach. I would like to wish Sarah and the chamber well in the future and hope that they will receive the same support I have received during my time on the committee’.

Andrew Rowdon, Chairman said; ‘I am delighted that Sarah will be taking on the role. I feel that it will be a real asset to the chamber to have Sarah as the new secretary. Last year she showed commitment and exceptional skills in producing a town guide for Felixstowe and these organisational skills will be a big part of this role. Working within the family business at Abbeygate Lighting will allow Sarah to keep in touch with the town centre traders and allow us as a committee to react more quickly to the ever changing needs and demands that we face. Naturally, the experience and commitment that we lose from Louise will be missed but we respect her decision to concentrate on other aspects of her work and family life’.

There will be a short transitional period between Louise and Sarah and it is anticipated that by the beginning of February all day to day communications will be filtered through Sarah.

The chamber also have a new contact number which is 07531 829884.
