Nicola Moe takes great pride in her long hair, therefore it’s shocking to her friends that she is about to have it all shaved off.
A 23 year old primary school teacher who lives in Rendlesham, Nicola says, “My motivation for the fundraising is that my auntie has been battling cancer for eight years. She originally had breast cancer so had a mastectomy and chemotherapy, she then developed a tumour in her brain which was removed and she needed radiotherapy. A couple of months ago she learned she had developed another cancer in the membrane of her brain which was inoperable” (she passed away on 27th May).
Nicola, who originally came from Hartlepool before moving to Suffolk, said she wanted to do something to help into the research of brain tumours, “I decided to get my head shaved because I have always loved my hair, so people who know me, know that to shave my head is a huge thing for me to do. It shows I am willing to do anything to help.”
She is now hoping that people will support her by sponsoring her in aid of Brain Tumour Research.
Nicola say “Lots of salons have been very helpful and have offered to shave my head for free; however I could only choose one! I am very grateful that others were willing to help.
“My hair will be cut by Christine at Toni & Guy Ipswich on Saturday 21 July 2012 at 10:30am. I am very willing to let others watch if they are interested.”
