A man has been arrested following a fatal collision on the A14.
Police were called at 1.50pm this afternoon, Monday 20 August, to reports of a collision involving a Fiat Punto and two lorries on the A14 eastbound carriageway, close to the Trimley slip road.
The driver of the Punto, a woman in her 50’s, sadly died at the scene, one male passenger in his 60s suffered life threatening injuries and was taken to Ipswich Hospital by air ambulance. A second male passenger in his teens was taken by air ambulance to Addenbrokes Hospital with life threatening injuries. The three casualties are not believed to be from the local area.
A 50-year-old man from Dovercourt has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where he is being questioned.
Suffolk Constabulary’s Serious Collision Investigation Team remain on scene. The eastbound carriageway remains closed at the Trimley slip road and the westbound carriageway is now open.
