Mums-to-be can plan ahead with the launch of new weekly tours of the newly refurbished maternity department at Ipswich Hospital.
The tours will help them decide on where to give birth and answer any questions and worries they may have.
Starting Saturday November 2nd at 3pm the tour, which is less than an hour, will help pregnant women to be prepared for their big day.
Maternity staff will explain the admission procedure, parking, what to bring in their bag, all about visiting, length of stay, contact numbers, the importance of skin to skin for mums, dads and babies and all about breastfeeding support.
Would-be parents can also see a birthing room and the birthing pool as part of the tour if they are not occupied at the time.
“We are really pleased to be offering a chance for pregnant women and would-be-mums to come and see round our award winning maternity department. It will allay their fears and they can get the information they need to make their birthing experience a good one,” said community midwifery manager Tania Browes.
Booking is essential for any of the tours please call maternity reception on 01473 703108
The department was awarded the prestigious Royal College of Midwives Maternity unit of the year 2012-13.
