BBC presenters help Hospital Station

BBC Radio Suffolk presenters Mark Murphy and Lesley Dolphin will be joining members of Hospital Radio Ipswich this Saturday to raise funds for the station.

Hospital Radio Ipswich is based at Heath Road Hospital where it’s volunteer members broadcast a variety of programmes every day of the week. The aim of the station is to entertain those spending time in the town’s hospital.

Mark Murphy, the mid-morning presenter on BBC Radio Suffolk, started his broadcasting career at Hospital Radio Ipswich.

Mark has never forgotten his time with HRI as it is affectionately known and along with fellow BBC presenter Lesley Dolphin, hold the role of the station’s Presidents.

This Saturday Mark and Lesley will join HRI staff at Asda Whitehouse as they play music and entertain shoppers. Station mascot Tiggy the Tiger will also be present to meet the children.

In a recent survey of stations listened to by the hospital patients, Hospital Radio Ipswich came out as the Number One most listened to station.

If you would like to know more about the service or maybe volunteer please speak to one of the station’s representatives at Asda this weekend or telephone 01473 740666.
