Here’s an opportunity to don your wellies or boots, grab yourself a spade and join in a community tree planting event in Ipswich.
The Borough Council’s Rangers are leading the mass dig at Whitton Recreation Ground, off Old Norwich Road, and want residents to help them plant nearly 1,000 trees on Saturday 22nd February.
Ranger Joe Underwood said: “This will dramatically improve the look of this open space and community involvement helps to establish pride in a job well done. This is a tree planting session for all ages – just bring along a spade and some sensible footwear between 10am and 2:30pm. We will provide refreshments, along with encouragement and guidance.”
The Friends of Christchurch Park will be digging into their wildlife projects pot and preparing to plant 200 trees on the following Saturday, 1st March, between 10am and noon. They will be meeting up at the Reg Driver Visitor Centre for the planting, which is one of several improvement schemes earmarked for the park. Anyone willing to help should join the Friends at the Reg Driver Centre (near Bolton Lane entrance) just before 10am.
