Pirates on the Prom

‘Pirates On The Prom’ will start from The Pier and aims to raise awareness and vital funds for the Mending Broken Hearts Appeal.

Bex Sheppard and Claire Flint who are organising the event for the second year running wanted to help the British Heart Foundation as the work and research they have done contributed towards saving Bex father’s life.

pirate_bex“In 1998, my dad Andy, at the age of 47, suffered a serious heart attack from which he was brought back twice by the medics at Ipswich hospital. Then in 2012 he suffered an Angina attack after which he underwent a coronary angioplasty operation at Papworth hospital. They fitted dad with a stent in his artery to help relieve the angina symptoms. We are so lucky he is still with us.”

Bex continued, “This is why the British Heart Foundation is very important to me and my family. It’s through their important research that lives are being saved and they help make a real difference to those living with heart disease.”

On the event itself, Bex went on to say, “We were very proud of the support last year and raised over £1200, a total which we are hoping to beat this year. Last year’s event captured the imagination of various local institutions, including the RNLI lifeboat crew, and was covered in depth by local radio and the local press which was a great help.

We’ll have a lot of fun on the day while raising awareness and money for a truly worthy cause. We hope to see you all there!”

The event is open to all ages, it is £5 each person to register (children Under 14 free) and you will all receive a free pirate hat on the day. There will also be prizes for the best dressed pirates.
