Review: The Three Lions

3lions-2Neither Football or politics are subjects that you would class as funny. However, The Three Lions at the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich takes a hilarious look at what goes on behind the scenes when David Cameron, David Beckham and Prince William meet at a Swiss hotel the night before England’s bid to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

What happens in the hours that lead up to the final decision may not be true, however it may well give an insight into the unlikely trio and what could have (but probably didn’t) happen that night.

Misunderstandings, mistaken identities and missing trousers all make for very humorous viewing.

Side-splitting funny from the start, writer William Gaminara has captured the personalities of the group brilliantly well. Add to this the uncanny likenesses of the cast to the real men and this makes for a brilliant piece of theatre.

And, you don’t have to follow football or have any knowledge of politics to enjoy this brilliant fast paced show, a very strong cast, fantastic writing and a great set all make for a very enjoyable night at the theatre.

Full of laughs from the onset, The Three Lions is one not to miss this spring, and you never know what really goes on behind the closed doors of hotel rooms, so now’s you chance to find out…

The Three Lions is at the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich until 14th March. To book tickets contact the Box Office on 01473 295900 or online at www.wolseytheatre.co.uk
