Ipswich Post Office robbery

Police are appealing for information after a robbery at the Dales Road Post Office in Ipswich around 9.10am this morning.

Officers were contacted just before 9.15am today, Monday 23rd March, to reports a man had approached the counter, thrown a bag down and demanded that it was filled with cash.

DALESRDPONo weapons were seen but it’s possible the man may have held something inside his jacket.

It’s thought there was one female customer in the post office, along with the female member of staff behind the counter, at the time.

No one was hurt but a quantity of cash has been stolen.

The man involved is described as white, aged in his 20s to early 30s, around 5ft 8ins tall, of slim build, with scruffy hair, wearing a dark coloured hooded jacket and dark woolly hat.

It’s possible he may have left the scene on a motorcycle.

Scenes of Crime are carrying out investigations at the site and it is hoped that the Post Office will reopen around lunchtime.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area around this time who may have seen anything suspicious, or anyone with information about the offender to call Suffolk Police on 101, quoting CAD 55 of today, Monday 23rd.
