Does your child want to pursue dance as a career?

The DanceEast Centre for Advanced Training is holding an Open Day on Sunday 19 April at the Jerwood DanceHouse for prospective students and their families to gain an insight into DanceEast’s pre-professional training programme.

The Open Day will include a dance workshop for the prospective students, tours of the world-class dance facilities, meet and greet with staff and an opportunity to see current students in action.

The team are looking for enthusiastic and motivated young people, aged 10-16 years, who are interested in pursuing dance as a career, to join the cohort in September 2015. The DanceEast Centre for Advanced Training currently has a 100% success rate of graduates continuing on to full-time dance training at conservatoire or university level.

Entry onto the scheme is very competitive, with applicants from all over East Anglia. This year DanceEast expects to recruit only approximately 20 new dancers.

The DanceEast Centre for Advanced Training is one of nine centres across the UK that identifies children with exceptional potential in dance and develop their talent through pioneering programmes, creating and inspiring future generations of world class dancers and choreographers.

The DanceEast Centre for Advanced training is supported through the Department for Education’s Music and Dance Scheme. Successful applicants are able to access highly specialist dance training in their locality, whilst continuing to live at home and benefiting from a broad and balanced education. Means tested grants are available for all successful applicants, which can cover up to 100% of the training, travel and dancewear costs.

DanceEast delivers non-residential, training programmes for young people aged 10–18 years. DanceEast are pioneers in prevocational training and research, promoting best practice and providing exceptional and innovative tuition to young people, regardless of their personal circumstances.
