Appeal for witnesses to robbery


Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery in Ipswich. The incident happened in Stopford Court between 7pm and 7.45pm on Sunday 20th September.

A 23-year-old woman was walking along the road when she heard a man shouting to her. She ignored this and continued walking.

She then noticed a man biking towards her and a man running towards her, both from behind. The man on the bike tried to grab her handbag as he rode past but was unsuccessful.

The man who was running then approached her and pulled at her handbag, elbowing her to the face. The victim then managed to run away.

A short time later the victim noticed her leather jacket, which was on top of her handbag, was gone.

The victim sustained swelling to her cheek as a result.

The first offender, who initially shouted at the victim, is described as a black man, slim to medium build, aged in his early twenties, approximately 5’7” tall and was wearing a dark coloured parker-style waist-length coat, a dark coloured peaked cap and dark coloured jeans.

The second offender, who was on the bike, is described as a black man, of medium build and was wearing a black baseball cap with a white trim, sky blue long sleeved short and was on a white BMX bike.

The third offender, who was running, is described as a black man, of a slim build, aged in his early twenties, had short hair and was wearing a navy blue tracksuit with florescent orange stripes on the sides.
