A body found at Orford Ness at the weekend has been identified an 85-year-old missing man from Westerfield.
Police were called just before 11am on Sunday 20 September by the National Trust who reported discovering a body on the beach.
The body has now been identified as Norman Carter who was reported missing on Monday 14 September, having failed to return home that evening after going to work in Ipswich.
A post-mortem examination was carried-out yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 22 September) but further tests will be required to determine cause of death. Further work to identify the man was carried out today, resulting him being identified.
Mr Carter’s death is not being treated as suspicious and a police file will now be prepared for the coroner, with an inquest being held in due course.
