Ipswich24 wins National Award
Fizzwig Designs, the publishers of Ipswich24 has won a national award that recognizes businesses that employ apprentices.
Fizzwig Designs were winners of the Silver award at the Apprenticeships 4 England Employer Awards 2016 held at the Emirates Stadium in London.
The company was nominated for the award in the small business category by their training provider, WS Training, who where impressed by the hard work and support that Fizzwig Designs offers their apprentices.
“We were over the moon to be nominated for this award, so to find out that we were a winner is just incredible” says Wendy Cook, one of the partners at Fizzwig Designs.
The Apprenticeships 4 England Employer Awards showcase and celebrate the achievements of those who have
exceeded expectations and have shown a dynamic approach to training, demonstrated initiative
and enterprise, innovation and creativity, and shown an understanding of, and commitment
to the improvement of quality and skills development in the delivery of Apprenticeships.
The winners were announced at a Gala Dinner on the evening of the 25th February 2016 at the Emiriates Stadium, London.
“Right from the start we have made our apprentices feel valued,” continued Wendy, “They all know how what they do fits within the company and we ensure that we involve them when we make decisions about the business.
“Our hope is that, through the apprenticeship scheme we can build our workforce of the future. By offering a huge amount of support and taking the time to train our young team we are not only teaching our apprentices about sales and the sales process, we are also giving them life skills that will stay with them for the future. And hopefully, that future will be with our company.
“In fact, the scheme is working so well for us, that we have already identified a possible future team leader in Paige, our first apprentice, and she is going to go on and do further qualifications once she completes her apprentice training.”
Based in Suffolk, and built on over 59 years experience in the newspaper, magazine, design and print industry, Fizzwig Designs is a small company that offers a wide range of services.
The company was started by Mark Keable and Wendy Cook from a spare bedroom back in 2006 and since that time, Fizzwig Designs has gone from strength to strength. From very small beginnings the company now work from premises in Ipswich where, as well as designing and print buying all manner of items from business cards to banners etc, the company are also publishers of the very popular monthly publication Ipswich24 Magazine.
In the Autumn of 2014 it became apparent that the business was growing and so the decision was made to use the government apprenticeship scheme. As a small company this enabled Fizzwig Designs not only to grow, but to do it in a way that maintained the attention to detail that Mark and Wendy had worked hard to create.
