August Bank Holiday weekend will be a great day out for families and rail fans alike at The Mid Suffolk light Railway. To celebrate the end of their scheduled steaming days, the Middy has managed to bring together two of the rarest locos in the country and they will both be working a busy schedule of trains. This is a real coup for the railway as the Y7 class veterans – the visitor loco over 125 years old – haven’t been seen together for many years.
The two North Eastern Railway designed engines then stay at Brockford for the Middy’s Grand Steam Gala weekend 9th & 10th September. Visit www.mslr.org for details.
The Bank holiday atmosphere will be enhanced by the well known keyboard artist and singer Annie with her superb mix of popular music from the Great American Song Book to the present day. Annie has been a professional musician for over 25 years providing top class entertainment for holiday centres, cruise liners, parties and dances, but this is the first time she has played a light railway! Watch out for the railway and train themed classics. She will be playing two sets each day 1.00 – 2.00p.m. and 3.00 – 4.00 p.m.
All the usual Middy services, Museum, café, souvenir shop and real ale bar, the Kitchener Arms will be open plus additional food service including the excellent Willow Farm Hog Roast from Laxfield.
Also don’t forget, once you have your ticket you can have as many rides as you like on any of the passenger carrying trains at no extra charge.
