Brass on the Grass 2018

For over 14 years the Friends of Christchurch Park have brought the summer tradition of free Sunday afternoon band concerts to Christchurch Park.

The concerts are held on the beautiful Upper Arboretum lawn at the Park’s ‘bandstand’, the Arts and Crafts shelter, near the Henley Road entrance.

Everyone is welcome to come along, maybe to enjoy a picnic, or just laze in the sun and enjoy listening to the varied and high quality bands they have brought from Ipswich and beyond.

This year’s concerts kick off on July 15th with the popular Ipswich Community Wind Band sponsored by a generous Friend of the Park who has been supporting Brass on the Grass for many years.

On 23rd July is a band making their Brass on the Grass debut – Castleton Brass, from Eye who are sponsored by Coes of Ipswich.  And a favourite for their spectacular performances – the Ipswich Hospital Band play on the 29th July, sponsored by Gotelee Solicitors.  The 2018 season is completed by the Woodbridge Excelsior Band, sponsored by Woodbridge Antiques Centre.

These free concerts start at 2.30pm at the Arts and Crafts shelter in the Upper Arboretum in Christchurch Park, Ipswich  (near the Henley Road entrance).   The Friends of Christchurch Park are extremely grateful to the concert sponsors who enable the Ipswich Brass on the Grass tradition to continue.
