Steampunk Felixstowe!

Just over a week to go until the launch of a major new off-season event for both the seaside town of Felixstowe and the county of Suffolk – the Felixstowe Steampunk Halloween Festival is coming to the magnificent Landguard Fort and Felixstowe Museum on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 October 2018.

Imagine a world where the Victorians were far more technologically advanced than they were in reality… from steam driven airships to mechanical time machines. The Victorians loved their seaside holidays too… so Felixstowe is the perfect place for a Steampunk extravaganza!

This new family-friendly festival is packed with Steampunk curiosities and eccentricities with a spooky
Halloween twist or two. Live music, magic shows, gin, magnificent birds of prey, a huge display of Meccano, tea dueling, hamster racing and Nerf gun shoot-outs ‘Wild West style’. Children can try their hand at archery, meet Bob the Steampunk dog and solve the Pumpkin quiz trail.

Whilst adults can visit the Time Travelling Tea Tent, explore the Steampunk marketplace and enjoy the wacky Wattingers. Visitors are encouraged to attend in their Steampunk finery… it’s up to you as anything goes as long as it’s a little Steampunked!

For braver souls, there is also a special evening event at Landguard Fort on Saturday 27 October – the ‘Night of the Macabre’. Dare you enter one of the most haunted places in Britain and explore the dark tunnels and rooms home to our Steampunk scarers. Plenty of shocks and surprises, plus a special Cabaret Show featuring the weird and wacky too.

Stephen Rampley, Landguard Marketing and Events Co-ordinator, said “Everyone is welcome to come and discover this new special event which is something completely different for both adults and children. It promises to be a real spectacle to remember”.

Tickets can be purchased online at: www.discoverlandguard.org.uk
