Review: Betty Blue Eyes

betty3It’s post war Britain, and although the war may be over, food is still being rationed and meet is scarce. So when the members of the Town Council of the little town of Shepardsford decide to hold a private function to mark the forthcoming marriage of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip, there one big problem – what are they going to feed their guests?

Newcomers to the town, chiropodist Gilbert is struggling to make his mark on the town and dreams of owning his own shop on the parade. Mean while his social climbing wife Joyce is doing all she can to get an invite to the private function.

Betty Blue Eyes is a new musical that has taken the West End by storm; it’s a fun, lively production with the most memorable songs and fantastic dance routines. A strong touring cast has taken this great production on the road and the result is fantastic.

betty1It’s not often you hear a musical score for the first time and remember the tunes, however with songs such as ‘Magic Fingers’, ‘Nobody’, ‘A Private Function’, ‘Pig, No Pig’ and of course, ‘Betty Blue Eye’ you’ll be humming these musical numbers all the way home – testament to such a great show.
A special mention must be made to the star of the show… Betty, who really is the most loveable of pigs!

Betty Blue Eyes really is a must see show that truly does bring home the bacon!

Betty Blue Eyes will be at the Mercury Theatre, Colchester until 5th April. To book tickets contact the Box Office on 01206 573948
