The 2012 Heveningham Hall Country Fair opens its gates at 10am on Sunday 8th July and promises a fun day out for all the family. Whether you’re eight or 80, you’ll find more than enough to keep you entertained.

Olympic Jousting team ‘Knights of the Damned’ tops the bill in the main ring, along with birds of prey from The English School of Falconry, a marching band and – for the very first time at Heveningham Hall – the exotic spectacle of Racing Camels.

High ropes, ejector seat, helicopter flights, giant orbing balls and a 10km run should give the energetic visitor plenty to choose from, while for a more leisurely outing, Mr. Webster’s 19th century steamboat offers trips across the Lake – also the setting for the colourful and chaotic inter-village raft races.

There’s no shortage of fun for the young: the bungee trampoline is back this year, as well as fairground rides and off-road driving. Animal-lovers can visit a mini-farm, rabbit and poultry shows, the ever-popular Sheep Show and – open to all canine visitors – a family dog show. Explore the beautiful Orangery area and you’ll find Punch & Judy, fun-boats and giant water balls.

Also at the Orangery, the theme for this year’s Flower Show is ‘A Year to Remember’, so if your fingers are green and you feel inspired to mark this Jubilee and Olympic year in flowers, be sure to get yourself an entry form.

For a spot of retail therapy, the Food and Craft Halls are hard to beat, selling a wonderful selection of locally-produced food and drink, as well as homeware, gifts, art and craft items and clothing. And of course refreshment of every kind will sustain you through the day: from the Hall’s own BBQ, a hog roast and fish & chips to ice cream, licensed bars and the chance to indulge in a home-made cream tea while taking time out in the beautiful Walled Garden.

Heveningham Hall Country Fair is on 8th July and promises to be a great family fun day out, with live music throughout the day there’s sure to be a wonderful atmosphere and – as all proceeds go towards charitable concerns in the local community – you’ll be enjoying yourself in a very good cause!
