Kesgrave Crime Reduction Event

Police are inviting residents along to a crime reduction event being held in Kesgrave on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 June.

Kesgrave & District Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) are holding the two-day event at Rupert Fison Square, next to the SNT office at Kesgrave, on Friday and Saturday to pass on information and advice about vehicle and home security.

Anyone living or working in the area is welcome along at any time between 1pm and 10pm on Friday 1 and 10am to 10pm on Saturday 2 to pick up hints and tips about protecting your property.

The SNT have organised the community engagement event after a number of thefts from insecure vehicles and garages in Kesgrave and Rushmere St. Andrew.

Officers will be setting up the police pod in the square and will be available to talk to anyone who would like crime reduction advice – and you’re welcome to pop along for a chat.

PCSO Michael Sarbutts, who has been involved in organising the event, said; “We are continually trying to get the message out to residents and drivers to remember to lock their vehicles and garages as well as their homes. You can dramatically reduce the chances of being burgled or having items stolen from your vehicle or garage just by taking some simple precautions, such as not leaving valuables on view, and these two engagement days will give you the opportunity to get more information about steps you can take to deter criminals.

“We will be offering security items for sale and can advise about measures you can take to make your vehicles and home safer, but the event will be about more than just crime reduction. We will be working alongside youth workers from the Kesgrave Youth Club who will be on hand to promote the club and encourage new members. And we’re also pleased to welcome some of our new police cadets who will be helping out too.

This is a good opportunity to meet your team, talk to us about any issues and find out more about what is going on in your neighbourhood.”
