Team Sky launches weekend of cycling in Ipswich


Lopez-David-01-WEB-RGB-PNGIpswich Cycling Weekend returns to the town tomorrow (Saturday 30th) with a trio of two-wheeled events.

There is a brand new sportive challenge, the Crafted Classique, the Ipswich Coastal Grand Prix pro cycle race concluding the British Cycling Elite Road Race series, and the return of Sky Ride Ipswich, offering families the chance to ride traffic-free routes around the town.

Spanish cycle ace and member of Team Sky, David Lopez, will be talking to the media and meeting well-wishers during a Waterfront walkabout as part of Ipswich’s big cycling weekend. David will be jointly starting (with Mayor of Ipswich Bill Quinton) the Grand Prix race of elite riders at 10.30am next to University Campus Suffolk. At 11am he will then set off on his bike with members of the public taking part in Sky Ride.

David is then available for media interviews at 11.05am at Ipswich Waterfront, UCS Plaza.

Key times for the weekend:

Sat: 7am – 9am Registration for the Crafted Classique sportive (100km or 100miles)
Sun: 10.45am Eite riders set off for the Ipswich Coastal Grand Prix (200km)
Sun: 11:00am Sky Ride opens

Sun: 3:30pm Grand Prix starts arriving back into Ipswich
Sun: 4pm Podium presentations
