The Spa Pavilion, Felixstowe announce that
Joe Longthorne will be appearing at the venue on Thursday
2nd July 2009.
Joe's big break came in 1981 as a finalist on London Weekend
Television's Search For A Star - this led to appearances
at the London Palladium. Later, Joe received the Variety
Club of Britain award as Most Promising Artiste of the Year.
Television specials in the UK and USA followed.
Joe's repertoire of voices is endless and includes hundreds
of the world's top singers; however, he is perhaps best
known for his impersonation of Shirley Bassey who has commented,
'Joe can do me better than I can do myself'.
During his career, Joe has received gold and platinum discs
for his albums, enjoyed sell-out concerts at the Royal Albert
Hall, as well as touring Australia several times.
In 1989 and at the pinnacle of his career Joe was diagnosed
with Lymphoma. In a last ditch attempt to save his life
in 2005, Joe underwent a bone marrow transplant that very
nearly killed him. He edged his way back to recovery returning
to the stage with a sell-out show at the London Palladium
in 2006. Finally cured of his seventeen year illness he
now had a new lease on life and in 2007 the Variety Club's
Most Promising Artiste of '83 was awarded their most coveted
of accolades; the Lifetime Achievement Award which placed
him amongst a galaxy of past recipients like Sinatra, Garland
and Fitzgerald.
Now, the time is right for Joe Longthorne. He has fought
and won the battle against cancer and is looking forward
to new challenges, new songs to sing and new audiences to
thrill. As entertainment comes full circle he has earnt
a very special place in live performance where he reigns
supreme.
Don’t miss this opportunity to see Joe Longthorne
at his best live on stage.
