12th April 7.30 p.m in Kirton Church
GRAHAM SIMS is a young classical guitarist who has gained
a high status in the musical world in his relatively short
career. He came to the guitar at the age of 18 – quite
late for the guitar and has now been playing for 13 years.
His progress has been phenomenal and Graham secured a place
at Bath Spa University studying under Tom Kerstens among
others. He left University with a first class M.A. and subsequently
won a prestigious scholarship to study at the Bath International
Guitar Festival. He has given many recitals throughout the
U.K., which have been very well received, and now it is
with great pleasure we welcome Graham to KIRTON.
He has a wide-ranging repertoire and will be playing among
other pieces John Dowland’s ‘Queen Elizabeth’s
Galliard’ and also works by Fernando Sor, Albeniz,
Villa-Lobos, Sir William Walton and contemporary composers
to include Paulo Bellinati, Leo Brouwer, and Kevin Byrne.
Graham has just recorded his debut album soon to be released
by Greyhound Records.
This recital is creating a great deal of interest
already and you can buy your tickets priced at £7
and £6 concessions from –
