Work is nearing completion on the development of St Peter’s
Church close to the Ipswich Waterfront into a Performing
Arts Centre. In 2006, Ipswich Hospital Band was awarded
over £700 000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund. This has
been supplemented by further grants from Ipswich Borough
Council, Ipswich Historic Churches Trust and contributions
from individuals. The Band is looking forward with anticipation
to its move in April into St Peter’s, which will be
its new home.
Members of the Band together with representatives from Ipswich
Arts Association recently enjoyed a final site visit to
see the progress which has been made. The restored east
window is beautiful and the tiered stage will afford the
audience a wonderful view of performers at the venue.

The Centre will be available for hire by local groups and
organisations.
