Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas
without a pantomime and the Ipswich Regent’s offering
this year of Cinderella is a great way to get you in the
festive mood.
Hot from the Strictly Come Dancing, dance floor
Letitia Dean takes on the starring role of Fairy Godmother
in this fun-packed family panto. Taking the audience magically
to the home of Cinderella (Alison Dormer) and her family
and the start of the tale.
We meet the Ugly Sisters (Simon Bashford and Adam Daye)
and because of the way they make poor Cinders do all the
chores, we are actively encouraged to boo and hiss them
every time they make an appearance.
Buttons played brilliantly by the talented Tucker, has you
rolling in the aisles, be it his love for Cinderella, to
his slapstick routine with Baron Hardup (David Redgrave)
with some very funny topical jokes some of which only the
mums and dads will understand!
Postman Pat makes various deliveries including invites to
the ball, there’s a very amusing scene when Prince
Charming (Stephen Dean) teaches Dandini (Adam Kelly) how
to be posh, as well as some very topical dialogue. Also
included are some fun, song and dance performances by the
Ensemble and the Suffolk Academy of Dance and Performing
Arts.
This production of Cinderella has some fantastic costume
changes and some great dance routines, some of which show
off beautifully, Letitia’s newfound dancing talents.
Full of family fun from the offset, action packed with a
gorilla in the forest, and a visit from The King! The children
in the theatre were really getting involved with the whole
performance. And to the little lad who sat behind me, Yes,
those ponies were real!!
Cinderella, presented by Duo Entertainments and directed
by Richard Cadell, will be at the Ip swich Regent
