THEY’RE BACK!
IPSWICH CHARTER WALL HANGINGS ON DISPLAY AT TOURIST INFORMATION
CENTRE AFTER TRAVELS ABROAD
The Ipswich Charter Wall Hangings are on display at the
Borough Councils Tourist Information Centre, in St Stephens
Church, until March 29th 2008.

This is a marvellous opportunity to enjoy the hangings,
which chronicle the history of Ipswich on 8 magnificent
textile panels. Each highly detailed panel depicts 100 years
in the history of Ipswich from the Vikings to the present
day.
Having returned from an international tour including Arras
(France), Jamestown Virginia and Ipswich Massachusetts the
hangings may be viewed free of charge at the Tourist Information
Centre, which is open Monday to Saturday 9.00 am to 5.00pm.
The Hangings are the creation of Isabel Clover, who was
commissioned by Ipswich Arts Association as part of its
contribution to mark the Millennium. More than 40 of her
former City & Guilds students worked together to complete
the work. A wide variety of textiles, appliqué and
embroidery are included to make the Hangings a truly unique
exhibition and record of the town’s history.
Isabels book “The Ipswich Charter Wall Hangings”
and sets of commemorative postcards and a pictorial map
are available at the Tourist Information Centre. |
