Indian pop star, Alamin Khandaker is set to hire the services of Ipswich Indian chef, Salim Malik, Owner of Koh-i-noor Indian restaurant in Upper Orwell Street to cater for his wedding.

Mr Khandaker, who is currently touring Sweden with his Bangladeshi pop group, Chime wanted to sample Mr Malik’s dishes before his wedding day and so called Mr Malik to see if he could deliver.

The long distance take away started in the kitchen of the Koh-i-noor. Mr Malik prepared a fish dish at Mr Khandaker’s request. Once cooked the food was then packed and ready for it’s long journey to Sweden.

First by car then to a plane waiting at Elmsett Airfield. Pilot Mustafa Aolad then flew this very special dish to Sweden for Mr Khandaker to sample.

Mr Khandaker has been married for 20 years and is set to renew his vows over Ipswich with a service on an aeroplane. He then plans a reception for 100 guests back on land.

Mr Malik has cooked for Mr Khandaker before, when he worked in a friend’s restaurant in London. He enjoyed his food so much that he tracked down the chef to cook for his special day.

Later this month Mr Malik will open his second restaurant in Crown Street called Jamil’s Koh-i-noor in memory of his son, who died in April.
