The Spa Pavilion Theatre, Felixstowe in conjunction with Suffolk Coastal District Council have been running the Summer Youth Project for the past eight years.

The aim of the project is to provide young people between the ages of 9 and 23 with the opportunity to stage and perform a full-scale musical to the paying public under expert professional supervision.

The project launched in 2003 with Annie followed by Fame (2004), Barnum (2005), Oliver (2006), We Will Rock You (2007) and Summer Holiday (2008). The Wizz (2009), Footloose (2010). Last year saw over 100 performer’s stage Footloose.

The project runs for a two week period in August and provides an opportunity for budding young stars in the local area aged between 9 and 23 to stage and perform a full-scale musical under expert professional supervision. During that time the cast are put through an intensive rehearsal schedule, learning all stage techniques including performance, lighting, sound and music. In the second week the show is performed to the paying public in full costume, with stage lighting and sound.

This year’s project is High School Musical.
