Rick Astley added to Abbey Fest line-up

Monday 18th: With just days to go before the kick-off for Bury St Edmunds’ newest festival, Abbey Fest, the organisers have announced that RICK ASTLEY will be performing at Abbey Fest on Friday, 22nd July 2011.

Rick will be supporting Lulu and her band and other guests at the opening night of the three day event to be held in the Abbey Gardens, Bury St Edmunds.

In 1987, the world was greeted by a new vocal talent. Shocked by the powerful, mature soulful voice of a 21 year old, the UK obliged by sending his debut single “Never Gonna Give You Up” to the top of the charts within 2 weeks of its release. The artist was, of course, RICK ASTLEY. The rest of the world soon followed suit with “Never Gonna Give You Up” reaching Number 1 in 16 other countries including most of Europe, Japan, United States and Australia. The following 2 years saw Rick continue to dominate the charts around the globe. In the UK, Rick was in the Top 40 every week for the first 6 months of his career.

The youngest of 4 children and getting his music fondness from his mother, this British singer was discoverd by the hit factory-producers Stock/Aitken/Waterman in 1987. They produced his biggest hits “Never Gonna Give You Up”, “Whenever You Need Somebody”, “Together Forever” and “My Arms Keep Missing You”.

The announcement comes after a couple of disappointments for organisers OEP, firstly Jedward had to pull out due to other commitments and then Bee Gee Robin Gibb also had to cancel.
