Get along to Ipswich Museum and join in the Anglo Saxon metal work workshop to craft your own stunning piece of metal work.

First, grab some inspiration by exploring the museum’s excellent Anglo Saxon display. Admire the intricate designs they incorporated into their metal work, be amazed at the different designs on display and how detailed the Anglo Saxons were when it came to creating these fantastic objects.

Afterwards, come and join us in our Anglo Saxon workshop. Here you can get involved and design your very own piece of metal work. It is up to you what you wish to design: from pendants to medals, bracelets to rings, or even amulets. Choose which interesting piece you would like to create and home with you

You will use pliers to bend, twist and shape copper wire in different ways to create your piece of metal work. You can even incorporate different coloured beads (or ‘jewels’) to give it that extra splash of colour.

This is an event you definitely won’t want to miss out on, so come and drop into one of our workshop sessions at Ipswich Museum to join in on the fun. Sessions are at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, and cost £3 per child.

These events are very popular so booking is essential. Be sure to book your place beforehand by either calling on 01473 433691 or by dropping into Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich.

This is just one of the many events that are happening at Colchester and Ipswich Museums. We have a broad range of events for families and adults all year round. To find out more information please visit www.colchestermuseums.org.uk or call 01206 282434 today!
