“Get active, get healthy and get it for free!” This is the message from Live Well Suffolk which has launched it’s ‘Let’s get physical’ campaign to help anyone in Suffolk get more active and take practical steps towards a more healthy future.
Live Well Suffolk has been set up to provide information and practical steps to help local people live healthier lives, particularly those who want to get fit, lose weight and give up smoking.
As part of the campaign, people can sign up for free taster sessions to try activities ranging from zumba to yoga and hip hop street dance to spinning. Classes will run in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds, Sudbury, Felixstowe and Haverhill. The taster sessions are run by qualified instructors and are suitable for absolute beginners and all ages. These will be followed by six-week courses for those who are keen to carry on their new exercise regime.
Tim Roberts, director of Live Well Suffolk said, “Whatever your age, being physically active can help you lead a healthier and happier life. The free taster sessions aim to introduce people to new forms of physical activity that they haven’t tried before, and our health experts will be on hand to give tips and advice on getting fit, losing weight and staying healthy. The free places will run out fast, so contact us soon to make sure you don’t miss out!”
Live Well Suffolk is also working with Ipswich Town Football Club to deliver the ‘Fit Fans’ weight management programme. ‘Fit Fans’ and ‘Fit Fans for Her’ are free, 12-week programmes promoting healthy eating and an increase in physical activity to help weight loss. Each weekly session includes a 45-minute interactive food workshop followed by 45 minutes of physical activity.
For younger Suffolk residents aged 2-18 years, the free 12-week programme ‘Alive N Kicking’ is also available. This is aimed at children who are above a healthy weight and includes sociable physical activities and nutrition advice for the whole family.
