The news of the death today (Wednesday 26th October) of John Klaschka, a district councillor for Kesgrave East, was greeted with sadness and surprise by Suffolk Coastal’s Leader.
As well as being a district councillor since 2003, Cllr Klaschka was also a Suffolk County Councillor and a member of the Board of the Suffolk Coastal Local Strategic Partnership.
“This is a very sad loss as John was an excellent, knowledgeable and hard-working councillor, who was busy representing the people of Kesgrave and indeed the district at meetings right up to yesterday,” said Cllr Ray Herring, Leader of Suffolk Coastal.
“With his sound expertise on information technology, his advice and support was very helpful to this Council as we increasingly used ICT to make our services both better and more efficient, and that personal commitment to modernising our Council saw him play an important role in the Joint Partnership Board with our colleagues at Waveney.
“His death was totally unexpected, and to lose him at only 71 is such a great shame. My thoughts and those of all of those at the Council are with June his wife and their family,” added Cllr Herring.
