Golden Wedding gift to Age UK Suffolk

Age UK Suffolk received a wonderful donation recently from a couple who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Pamela and Lance Gedge celebrated with their family and friends and wanted to raise money for Age UK Suffolk instead of receiving presents.

Pamela has been a befriender for the charity for 20 years in the Ipswich area and said “I wanted to donate to Age UK Suffolk as they provide so many good services for older people in Suffolk. I have been a befriender for 20 years and it is a two-way thing as on the one hand you are visiting older people who are very lonely and really look forward to seeing you once a week, on the other hand it is so rewarding for me to feel that I have helped an older person and made a real difference to their lives”.

Maggie James, Fundraising and Development Officer said “we were delighted to receive this generous donation from one of our valued volunteers raised as part of their Golden Wedding Anniversary celebrations. We wish to thank both Pam and Lance and their family and friends for supporting us in this way”.

Age UK Suffolk has many volunteer opportunities including befriending, working in our help centres or day services, benefits advice, charity shops, fundraising and more. If you would like to volunteer or help the charity in any other way please contact Maggie James on 01473 359911 or e mail maggie.james@ageuksuffolk.org
