Dismay at Christmas Fayre cancellation in Felixstowe

Visitors to the Christmas Fayre in Felixstowe, which claimed would have up to 100 stalls were amazed to find…. None!

The Fayre was to be organised by the Felixstowe Chamber of Trade and Commerce and the official press release had said:

There will be a Christmas Fayre in Felixstowe on Sunday 27th November, following the Felixstowe Lions ‘Christmas Lights Switch On’ on the Saturday.

Felixstowe Chamber of Trade & Commerce are hosting a Christmas Fayre in the town centre. The organisers are hoping to have over 100 stalls at the event to cover the complete length of Hamilton Road between Boots and Lloyd’s Bank. Hamilton Road will be closed to traffic for this event and there will be additional entertainment on the Triangle, featuring music, hog roast and Santa’s grotto etc.

Visitors to the town however couldn’t find any sign of the Fayre and there was no announcement that the event had been cancelled on the Chamber’s website.

One visitor, a Mr Grimwood said “when we enquired with local shop staff were informed they knew nothing about it.”

The Chamber have now informed Ipswich24 that they cancelled the event due to poor support from traders/stallholders, at the end of October. They (the Chamber) had emailed the local press notifying them of the cancellation, however it would appear that this email did not reach the intended recipients.
