Funding for Team Ipswich Project

TeamIpswich Water Polo have successfully won £2000 funding from the Kellogg’s Swim Active Grant for a Mini Polo Project to be run from 1st Jan 2012 to the end of April which will provide an introduction to the Olympic sport of water polo.

The target group are the under 14 year olds, boys and girls, who will be encouraged to keep fit and active while being part of a team and having fun swimming. The project will provide weekly Mini Water Polo sessions with the target of increasing participation in this specific aquatic sport.

The weekly sessions will run on Sunday’s from 6pm to 7:15pm at Crown Pools. The first session will be on Sunday 8th January 2012. The funding means the charge is only £5 per month for the first four months. So this really is a fantastic opportunity for all youngsters in the local community to practise and develop their personal swimming skills while participating in an Olympic team sport.

Sessions will be headed by ASA qualified Water Polo Coach Clare McCartney and supported by volunteers from Ipswich’s first team water polo squad.

With Kellogg’s support in starting up this new initiative, the long term aspiration is to make Mini Polo a permanent activity available to all youngsters in the local community.
