Cigarette Hoard Stolen from Wickham Market

Hundred pounds worth of cigarettes were stolen after someone broke into a newsagents in Wickham Market High Street just before 4am on Monday 7 May.

The offenders broke in via the front door of the shop and two males wearing hooded tops were seen leaving the premises holding items in their arms.

They then got into a grey VW Golf car, registration E41 HDX, being driven by another person. Police immediately attended and began enquiries into the incident. These revealed the grey Golf had been stolen from Turin Street in Ipswich earlier and the vehicle was later found in Little Glemham. The car had been driven into a field near the junction with Beversham Road and Church Road and set light to.

An investigation is underway to trace those involved and police are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in any of these areas between Sunday night and midday yesterday, Monday 7 May, to come forward.

If you have any information about the incident or the offenders please call PC 1551 Wilkinson on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
