The biggest sporting event that the country has ever seen is coming to London this summer, bringing with it all calibre of athletes competing in all sorts of disciplines.
However for a real showcase of agility and speed, the ‘Olym-pigs’ at this year’s Suffolk Show is the place to be seen.
A first for the Suffolk Show, the ‘Olym-pigs’ features a display of prowess from show pigs who will attempt to sprint and hurdle around an obstacle course featuring a slalom and a bridge. The competition is open to any pigs exhibited in the pig classes.
The attraction has been put together by local farmer Peter Mortimer who will also take up the role of commentator. He said: “The whole country is in Olympic spirit this year and the animals are no exception. When we’ve staged this event before it has been very popular, drawing crowds in their hundreds. It’s a light hearted entertainment show along the lines of “one man and his dog”, but with a twist!”
The sponsors of the Olym-pigs, Medfield Village Kitchen & Pie Company Ltd, are delighted to support this new event at the Suffolk Show which showcases the fun side of keeping pigs.

Suffolk's alternative to the Olympics, Olym-pigs
The ‘Olym-pigs’ will be held in the pig area of the show at 1pm on Friday 8th June.
