Horrible Walk around Ipswich

On Wednesday, 4th July, there is an evening guided walk with Ipswich Tourist Guides.

Commencing at 7pm, at the Ipswich Tourist Information Centre, the walk, is themed “Horrible History of Ipswich – For Grown Ups”. Based on the popular books and TV series the Ipswich “Horrible History” walks were originally devised to introduce children to the history of the town. But the walks proved so popular with parents too that it has been decided to run one especially for adults. Being held in the evening means that people who normally work during the day – or have other daytime commitments – may join in the fun.

Like the books you can expect history with “the gory bits left in”! – the plague, bear bating, public burnings at the stake and the town’s former ancient sewage system (and lack of!) – and much more – all brought to life.
The walk will last approximately 90 minutes and the cost is just £3 per person. Meet outside the Tourist Information Centre, St. Stephens Church, St. Stephens Lane for a prompt 7pm start.

• Further information, and a leaflet about all Guided Walks for the 2012 season, is available from the Tourist Information Centre.
