Final Gig in the Park

Katrina hoping for sunshine

Organisers of Halesworth’s Gig in The Park festival recently announced that this year’s festival is to be the last. However they are determined to go out with a bang. Festival organisers are proud to announce that Fun Lovin Criminals will be headlining this year’s festival.

Formed in 1993 FLC returned from a five-year hiatus in 2010 with a new studio album Classic Fantastic. Probably best know for the song Scooby Snacks they have a reputation as a superb live act and played both T in the Park and the V Festival last year to critical acclaim. Hailing from New York City front man Huey is also a successful TV and radio presenter with numerous credits to his name. The Fun Lovin Criminals will be supported by Nine Below Zero and Benjamin Bloom.

Friday sees headliner Katrina (formerly of Katrina and the Waves) who is best remembered for the feel good anthem ‘Walking on Sunshine’ which was a smash hit 27 years ago. Later she went on to win Eurovision in 1997 with ‘Love Shine a Light’. Katrina is still writing and recording her own material and is currently writing her autobiography ‘ don’t it feel good’.

Sunday will feature the return of the Lee Vasey band playing the soundtrack of your life to get the park in the party mood. Also making their first appearance at the festival will be Buster James. Formed in the last 70’s Buster James have a huge following both locally and across the UK and are guaranteed to get the crowd moving with their unique rock / blues vibe.

Now in its 15th year this year’s show promises to be one of the best yet and as always promises a friendly vibe and a family friendly atmosphere. The festival takes place on from Friday 10th until Sunday 12th August at Halesworth Town Park and will feature a full programme over three stages including more nationally know acts to be confirmed shortly along with the usual real ale bar and food from around the globe. Gig in the Park is a community event run by volunteers and profits are donated to local good causes.
