Help for those seeking work

From the 18th September, local careers and training company GNMA will be setting up shop at Tower Ramparts Shopping Centre, Ipswich. Their team of specialist careers advisors will be operating out of the remote hub, providing a free drop in service open to anyone seeking employment or training/education opportunities. GNMA will also be running a range of free taster sessions on a number of topics including CV writing, interview skills, confidence building and much more!

Managing Director for GNMA, Garry Mills comments: “employment is such a hot topic at the moment and we feel that it’s important to get out into the community and let people know about the huge range of services out there to support them, regardless of their situation. Our brand of careers advice is nothing like what most of us received at school; it’s unique to you, with a friendly approach and a sprinkling of common sense.” Careers advice and training is a topic that Tower Ramparts is keen to support too as Mike Sorhaindo – Centre Manager comments: “we are thrilled to be supporting the Your Life, Your Skills, Your Future event with GNMA. We are confident that the event will be of great value to our customers seeking support with employment or training.”

During the programme, each week will focus on a particular theme. Topics include skills development, recruitment, careers advice and a special week dedicated to parents in the workforce or training, particularly focused on single parents. The ‘Support To Work Week’ offers help to anyone facing barriers to work including alcohol and substance problems, homelessness, family issues, mental health difficulties or those on probation. Garry Mills comments: “so many people are afraid to get to the gritty reality of why some people are unsuccessful with securing employment. We believe that everyone has the opportunity to have a successful career, regardless of any barriers facing them.”

The event has already attracted some high profile attendees such as the current Mayor of Ipswich Councillor Mary Blake who will be officially opening the programme at the Training and Skills Development Fair on the 25th September at 10.30am, along with Town 102 presenter Nick Pandolfi. The Mayor and Nick will also be taking part in a CV review session with one of GNMA’s advisors, illustrating that the support on offer throughout the six weeks is suitable for everyone regardless of experience or situation.

Each week there will also be a number of partner organisations in attendance such as Reed in Partnership, WS Training, Iceni, Otley College, IHAG, LimeSkills, St Giles Trust, UCS and Leap to name but a few. In addition a number of employers who are currently recruiting are also attending including Debenhams, AXA, Morrison, Abbey Security and The Army as well as many more.

The GNMA hub will be open every Tuesday to Saturday from the 18th September until the 27th October, from 10am until 3pm each day and is situated on the lower mall in Tower Ramparts. Everything about the event is completely FREE!
