John Lewis & Waitrose stores take shape

There’s been a sneak preview this week of the new John Lewis at Home and Waitrose Ipswich shops in Ipswich which are due to open on 8th November 2012.

The new shops are really starting to take shape, as you can see from these pictures, and the construction is running according to schedule for the grand opening.

Gavin Smith, occupation manager, John Lewis at home said: “The internal fit out of the shop continues at a pace and we are on track for the November 8th opening. All interior walls are now built and the focus has been on the installation of the ground floor ceiling and the electrical infrastructure, including light fittings. The next couple of weeks will see the finishing touches really start coming together. Wooden flooring will be laid in the sales areas and the installation of shop fitting will commence at the start of October.”

Paul Reeley, Waitrose Branch Manager, “It’s amazing how quickly the team are transforming what was not long ago a piece of derelict land. The store is really beginning to take shape with the shell of the building now complete and the internal fit well underway. We are now preparing for the refrigeration to be installed and the exterior signage to go up in the coming weeks.”

The stores are on the Fortuna Estate on Nacton Road, site of the former Cranes complex.
