Call for Suffolk to Get Active

Have you been inspired by the success of British athletes and paralympians this year? From the exploits of Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton in the Velodrome through to the achievements of Jessica Ennis and Jonnie Peacock on the track, there has never been a better time to encourage people in Suffolk to get active.

Whether you would like to take up gymnastics, learn how to play volleyball or simply find your nearest swimming pool, a new campaign has been launched to raise awareness of the wide range of sporting activities available throughout the county.

Suffolk Get Active has been launched by the team from Live Well Suffolk who are working with Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Sport and Optua. It aims to get people more active by making sure people have all the information they need on sports and activities in the county. During the campaign there are special offers and discounts to help you on your way to a healthier, fitter you.
The Suffolk Get Active website (www.suffolkgetactive.org.uk) is full of useful tips, practical advice and a searchable database of sports and activities on your doorstep. You can also download a choice of discount vouchers to sample a variety of sports available across the county. It doesn’t matter if you would prefer to join a team or simply try a new activity alone; there is something for everyone with Suffolk Get Active!

The website also has information about the new opportunities in disability sport in the county. With details of your nearest Wheelchair Basketball club through to information about multi-sport sessions it has never been easier for people of all ages and disabilities to get into sport.
So if you would like to try something new but are unsure how to find your nearest club or leisure centre, simply visit www.suffolkgetactive.org.uk or text ACTIVE to 65000.
