Ipswich Gig for Mayors Charities

A gig, featuring 3 popular, local acoustic acts has been arranged in Ipswich for 2nd April, 7.30pm. The Gig, taking place at the Novotel Hotel, Greyfriars Road, near the Waterfront in the town will feature “Back Porch”, “MC2” and “Silbury Hill”.

Silbury HillTickets for the Gig cost £5.00 and are available from Ipswich Tourist Information Centre, St Stephens Lane Ipswich –Telephone 01473 258070, email tourist@ipswich.gov.uk – and all proceeds will go to the charities supported by the Mayor of Ipswich, Mary Blake, in her year of Office.
Back Porch are no strangers to local music fans with an upbeat, happy take on the blues from their line-up which includes harp, washboard, 6-string and 12-string guitars with a good deal of friendly banter between front man, Mike Rushore, and the band thrown in.

MC2 (pronounced Mac too) feature song writer Paul McCartney (the other one!) with a band whose line up includes respected folk sessioneer Pete Gosling on guitar and mandolin. Duo, Silbury Hill, have been carving a niche in recent years with Scott Dolling’s flute the signature sound in a set that includes original material plus covers from the likes of Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull.

The Mayor of Ipswich is a big supporter of local music and musicians and was pleased to put her name to the event. The three charities she is supporting during her term of office are Lighthouse – Ipswich Womens Aid, Town 102 Kids Trust and Crisis UK.

The doors at the gig open at 7.00, first band on at 7.30 and there will be a bar. Purchasing tickets in advance from the Tourist Information Centre is recommended as numbers will be limited at the venue.
