Groups and Friends Panto Tickets on Sale

Tickets for Dick Whittington by Peter Rowe, this year’s panto at the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich go on sale to patrons and friends from Friday 22 March at 10am and on general sale from Saturday 30 March at 10am.

In this rock ‘n’ roll extravaganza, Fairy Bow Bells is Holding Out for A Hero to save London from the evil King Rat. Down from Ipswich to seek his fame and fortune comes Richard Whittington, and There Ain’t No Mountain High Enough to stop Dick Falling for Uptown Girl, Alice Fitzwarren, while Taffy the Cat and her Tiger Feet kick the revolting rodents out of town until everyone is simply Walkin’ On Sunshine.

The streets are paved with rock ‘n’ roll hits in the New Wolsey’s musical twist on this traditional tale. The best of pantomime and the greatest pop songs all served up by our astonishing company of actor-musicians in a festive feast for all the family.

The annual New Wolsey panto plays to full houses for the best part of two months. Last year’s Sleeping Beauty achieved 99% capacity so early booking is advised. Rob Salmon directs again this year with set and costume design by Diego Pitarch, choreography by Ally Holmes, lighting design by Richard G Jones and Sound Design by Simon Deacon.

This year there are three accessible performances (see below) of Dick Whittington and the New Wolsey introduces its first Relaxed Performance on Thursday 16 January at 1.30pm.

A Relaxed Performance is one which has been carefully adjusted to reduce anxiety or stress for those who might otherwise find the experience unsettling or difficult. For example, changes are made to sound and lighting to eliminate surprise and soften their impact.

New Wolsey Chief Executive, Sarah Holmes:

“We introduce our first relaxed performance as an extra option for audiences and to remove barriers to access and enjoyment. It’s about making the theatre welcoming and inclusive for all.”

Captioned & Audio Described Performances:
Friday 17 January a 7.30pm
Saturday 18 January at 2.30pm

BSL Interpreted Performance:
Saturday 18 January at 2.30pm
