Cold Weather Continues

As the current icy spell shows no sign of letting up, Ipswich’s emergency beds scheme for rough sleepers will continue to be available over the Easter period.

The 12 beds are at Cavendish Lodge, Turret Lane, Ipswich, IP4 1DL, thanks to Genesis Housing Association and Ipswich Borough Council. Rough sleepers will have access to Cavendish Lodge from 6pm until midnight.

An assessment on the cold weather beds will be made on Tuesday 2nd April.

Meanwhile a roadshow in the north west of Ipswich takes place next week to advise residents on the help available from the “Warm Homes Healthy People” scheme.

It takes place on Wednesday 3rd April from 10am to 2pm at the Castle Hill Community Centre in Highfield Road. The scheme is aimed at families on a low income, families with children, the over 60s and households with a person with disabilities.

Staff from the county council and its partners will on hand to offer advice on keeping warm, healthy eating and family finances. For those who cannot get to the roadshow, there is also a Winter Wellbeing helpline 08456 037 686.
