Ipswich Flies the Flag

Ipswich people can pay tribute to our Armed Forces on Monday 24th June when two “Fly the Flag” ceremonies will take place in the town.

The Mayor, Councillor Hamil Clarke, will lead the event outside the Town Hall, while Borough Council Leader Councillor David Ellesmere will do the honours outside the Council’s HQ, Grafton House in Russell Road.

Both ceremonies will take place at 10.30am and the flags will continue to fly until after Armed Forces Day on Saturday 29th June. Similar events will occur across the country.

The Mayor said: “We owe a great debt and our gratitude to members of the Armed Forces past and present. Flying the Flag will enable us to salute their courage and I hope a large number of local people will join us to pay tribute.”
