Ipswich Half Marathon 2013

After four extremely successful races, the fifth Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon has been launched with the promise of it being even bigger and better than previous years.

This year the Half Marathon is taking place on Sunday 22nd September and the race will start and finish in Christchurch Park, Ipswich.

Over 1,300 runners ran the 2012 race and the organisers are delighted that the event is continuing to grow in popularity year on year, with entries coming in fast for the 2013 race.

This race is again sponsored by leading chartered accountants and business advisors, Larking Gowen, and is organised jointly by Ipswich Borough Council and Ipswich Jaffa Running Club. Set up to build a legacy around the London 2012 Olympics, the race has now become one of Ipswich’s key events and is firmly established in the autumn racing calendar.

The Half Marathon provides the entrants with a wonderful opportunity to raise monies for local charities and this year the race is supporting two local charities, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and St Elizabeth Hospice.

The route has been altered and the new two-lap course will start and finish in Christchurch Park. The undulating course will run through local communities and Ipswich town centre, with numerous opportunities along the route for spectators to cheer the runners on.

Race-day-040For those not keen on the 13.1 mile challenge, there is a 4K Family Fun Run, starting at 9.15am, open to all ages. This will take place within Christchurch Park, making it an ideal course for youngsters to enter. However, any child entering under the age of eight must be accompanied by an adult. There will be a memento for all finishers.
