In it’s seventeenth year The Festival of Classic & Sports Cars held at Helmingham Hall is a wonderful day out for car enthusiasts and the whole family. Held in association with the Suffolk Vehicle Enthusiasts Club (SVEC), to help raise money for EACH (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices), the 2013 festival is set to be the best yet!
Over 700 exhibiting vehicles attend representing the last 10 decades of motoring history, including many from Britain’s motoring heyday. Exquisite marques on display include Alvis, Bristol, Jensen, AC Riley, Armstrong Siddeley, Lea Francis, Crossley, BSA, Logonda, Lanchester and Gordon Keeble. The oldest vehicle Helmingham has been privileged enough to display is a 1914 Ford Model T and the latest sports car models include Ferrari, Porsche, Corvette, Mustang and Aston Martins amongst many others! This amazing collection of vehicles is displayed against the magnificent backdrop of the moated Tudor Hall which sits in the middle of an ancient deer park. The exhibiting cars also have the chance to parade up and down the main drive in concourse sessions throughout the day.
As well as the impressive display of vehicles the day offers main ring entertainment, trade stalls and local food, drink and music. Visitors also have the chance to explore the Grade 1 Listed gardens which have been extensively redesigned by the current Lady Tollemache, a Chelsea Gold Medallist, and are open to visitors who find themselves enchanted by the herbaceous borders, walled kitchen, herb, knot, rose and wild gardens.
The Festival of Classic & Sports Cars is on Sunday 4th August from 10am until 5pm. For more information visit www.helmingham.com
