100 years of Sea Planes

Wings on Waves celebrates the 100th Anniversary of Sea Planes in Felixstowe on Sunday 4th August, and will include a Church Service, Seafront Parade and an exciting Air Display over the sea (weather and aircraft permitting).

Wings-on-Waves-pic-3The day will start with a Church Service at St. John’s Church in Orwell Road, led by the Bishop of St. Edmunsbury, Nigel Stock. This will be followed by a Seafront Parade, led by the Harwich Pipe Band at 12.30pm. The Parade will travel from the Spa Pavillion to the steps of the Town Hall where children from local Guides and Scout groups will line the road outside the Town Hall. Any able bodied veterans are invited to join the parade and must be at the Spa Pavilion for 12.20pm if they wish to participate.

At 3pm there will be an air display over the sea in front of the Town Hall. Scheduled to take part in the flying display is the Catalina Flying Boat, Spitfire, Yak52, ME108, Sea King and other aircraft.

There will also be a range of stalls and refreshments along the seafront area, including the Port of Felixstowe Community Fund and, models and displays from Felixstowe Muesum.
